How To Apply

Joint Apprenticeship And Training Committee (J.A.T.C.)This Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (J.A.T.C.) accepts applications for apprenticeship from 8:30 – 12:00 AM and to 1:00 - 4:00 PM on the 1st working Wednesday of each month.    Applications will be accepted at 493 Bev Rd. Building 4A, Youngstown,, Ohio 44512.  You must apply in person and a non-refundable processing and testing fee of $25.00 will be charged at the time of application. We cannot accept cash or personal checks only money orders made out to the MTJATC and VISA/MASTERCARD will be accepted.

To meet minimum qualifications for apprenticeship, applicants must:

  • Be a minimum of 17 years of age – 18 BY DATE OF INDENTURE
  • Be at least a high school graduate, or have a GED, or have a two-year Associates Degree or higher.
  • Show evidence of successful completion of: One full year of high school algebra with a passing grade, or one post high school algebra course with a passing grade.
  • Provide an official transcript for high school and post high school education and training.  All GED records must be submitted if applicable.
  • Submit a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training.
  • Present evidence that they possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Prior to being indentured, applicants selected from the pool of interviewed applicants must at least be 18 years of age.

ONLINE APPLICATIONS: If you would are unable to attend the regularly scheduled in person application date please apply online.  Please be advised that the original application and the supporting documentation, listed above: Copy of High School Transcript with 1 credit of Algebra I with a passing grade, copy of your drivers’ license and money order for $25.00., must be mailed or brought to our office for your application to be valid.  If you would like to pay by credit card, please stop by our office or include this information with your application on a separate sheet of paper with your signature.  You may also drop off this information on any Monday between 8:30 and 12:30.
 
Prior to being indentured all applicants must:

  • Make application
  • Pass an aptitude test given at a later date (NOT on the date of application)
  • Applicants who meet the basic requirements will be interviewed by the JATC.  Apprentices will be selected in order of their final ranking.
  • If selected, after interview, must attend a drug policy orientation, then submit to a physical and drug screen.

NOTICE OF NONDISCRIMINATORY POLICY AS TO STUDENTS AND APPLICANTS

The recruitment, selection, employment and training of apprentices during their apprenticeship, shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex or age—except the applicants must be at least 17 years of age to apply and 18 years of age at the time of indenture.  The JATC does not, and will not, discriminate against a qualified individual with a disability because of the disability of such individual.  The sponsor will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under applicable law and lawful regulations issued there under.

Trumbull County-----Liberty and Hubbard Townships Only.

Columbiana County—Butler, Fairfield, Salem, Perry and Unity Townships Only.
